Twitter

Armed with a bit of knowledge about what Twitter is all about, share your thoughts on this fast growing online phenomenon....

I don't really understand why people have or follow peoples individual accounts- it seems to be a little like stalking and I'm just not that interested in constant updates on peoples lives.
However, if they have something intersting or useful to say I think it's a great way of getting it across. For example the library sites are a great way of getting info to people quickly and in an accessible way while keeping up with modern trends!

So a great thing for people with something intersting to say!

Library Thing!

Do you see any practical applications for LibraryThing either at home or at work? Will you start using this site?

I definitely think this is a useful site. I do the storyvan outreach and am always having kids ask me about books, whether they are good, what they are about, will they be able to read them.....
I will start to use this site to help me find the answers, especially for things I don't find intersting so wouldn't want to read in order to answer their questions- such as the Manga craze!

Online Productivity Tools

Do you see free online tools like these eventually replacing expensive software like MS Office?

These things are very useful but I worry how secure they are which makes me less likely to think they would replace Microsoft etc. They would be ok for some personal things perhaps. but I couldn't see businesses using them because of privacy settings.....

You Tube!

I finf You Tube very easy and straightforward to use. The instructions are clear and the setup is easy to follow. However, I think the site should have more security in terms of children accessing things they shouldn't be! Even things that are appropraite for You Tube are not appropriate for children and so maybe passwords or other security features should be in place?

RSS Feeds

I did not set this up today as part of the CPL 2.0, beacsue I have done this in the past and already had accounts. However, when I did it I found it easy to set up, although I have not had much use for it since!
